My Favorite Picks from the Target 20 Year Collection

Let’s talk about this dress for a minute (Isaac Mizrahi for Target). It’s gorgeous, and I feel gorgeous in it. The luxe fabric, you would never know it was $60 and a part of the Target 20-year collection.

For the past 20 years, Target has collaborated with some of fashions hottest designers. The intention was to bring luxe fashion houses to the masses, and it has had major success every time, usually selling out in hours. That is why I was so surprised when I walked into Target and there they were, the two items I saved in my cart September 13; so on September 14 when they debuted, I could buy them. But because I am Mya – Karren I fell asleep before 12 am and then forgot the next day. By the time I looked back online, Target was no longer taking orders online.

So I walk into Target… and there they were both in my size: xs, so that means it was meant to be right?

I did like a white and blue Thakoon shirt dress, but my size was sold out.

Over the years Target has collaborated with Isaac Mizrahi, Altuzarra, Zac Posen, Lily Pulitzer, Thakoon, Ana Sui, Jason Wu, Rodarte, Stephen Burrows, and 3.1 Philip Lim.

I was skeptical about the dress, online doesn’t do it justice, but I knew when I saw the jacket ($55), I would love it. I tried them on, and they followed me home. The dress was $60.

This dress can be worn with just about any shoe. So I paired it with my neon pink Coach shoes. I feel like I should be at the Kentucky Derby with a hat in this dress. This dress is a 10, even more so, it has pockets. Since I don’t wear pants, I am always excited when my dress or skirt has pockets.

I have paired the dress with my neon pink sandals. Don’t forget the earrings, always a must. I never leave home without earrings. To add just a little something extra, I also wore my J Crew shine necklace. I can take or leave the necklace. I did some shots with the neck and some without, and I like the look both ways. One is over the top, and the other is simple with a bare neckline.

The other piece that I purchased, also Isaac Mizrahi for Target.

Houndstooth is a classic print, but this fall and winter it will be in. I love classic houndstooth because it typically comes in my favorite color combination: black and white. But this jacket puts a twist on the classic print with a bright color and enlarging the print.

The cut of this coat is also classic. The color may be now, but the print and cut will be forever.

I paired the jacket with my J Crew tippi sweater, Artizia wool midi skirt, my Christian Louboutin Mary janes and of course earrings.

There is nothing wrong with mixing high and low; in fact, many fashionistas have moved to that idea. Fashion and style are not about how much you pay for something, it’s about how you put things together and how you feel when you are wearing the ensemble you put together. We have all seen that $3,000 dress that is absolutely hideous.

Fashion is a way for you to express yourself without having to say anything.

I have to go to Florida in December for a football championship and this dress will be in my suitcase, along with sandals.

With class and grace,

Mya-Karren
